The food is always great, consistent and exactly as described. Our go to place in Newark for Chinese. The family that owns this business is great too.

For as long as we've lived in Newark, this has been our go-to Chinese takeout.... nothing fancy, just good food & good value. I always get the crab rangoon and the chicken & broccoli, but their other items are good too.

Delish! My hubby and I went there in search of a new favorite Chinese place in the area and when we took our first bite, I heard a, "ding! ding! ding!" This is it! While we will keep enjoying other Chinese places (absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?), we will always come back here! It's been a few weeks so I don't remember the exact name of the dish, I want to say it was the General Tso Bean Curd, and my hubby had something chicken. I've eaten a LOT of Chinese tofu dishes and this was seriously the best! Take some time and check this place out!!

For better or for worse, downtown Newark, specifically the neighborhoods around main street and the university, constitute a college town environment. Subsequently, there is no shortage of restaurants of all kinds. Chinese food is popular, and the number of restaurants in Newark that serve it are many. Each one has its own strengths and weaknesses, and Number 1 Chinese Food Take Out has the following characteristics: Online ordering - This is a big plus for me. They run this service through Grubhub, which allows your to make your selection, order, and pay by phone or on the computer. This makes it easier to get your food quicker, and they do carryout and as well as delivery. Speed - Fairly fast. My food was in my hands around thirty minutes after I put in the order. Menu selection - Decent. I'm allergic to shellfish but they do have a good amount of shellfish on the menu. Good selection of soups, as well as chicken, beef, pork, and I believe even some vegetarian options. I ordered their sesame chicken special and was not disappointed. For $7.50, I got a generous serving of chicken along with a massive portion of pork fried rice. It also came with an egg roll, which was delicious. All-in-all, the food tasted pretty good. I'd recommend this place for cheap, generic chinese food, because that's all it is.
